Daniel Larusso, ou melhor, Ralph Macchio (48 anos), começou sua carreira em 1980, mas apenas em 1984 sua carreira decolou. Karatê Kid mudou a infãncia de várias crianças e adolescentes. O filme fez tanto sucesso, que teve mais duas sequências. Curiosamente, depois de Karatê Kid, Macchio não conseguiu manter o sucesso. Recentemente ele fez algumas participações em “Ugly Betty”.
Elizabeth Shue (46 anos) justamente em Karatê Kid e não parou mais. Depois de fazer o papel da namorada do Daniel Larusso, Shue não parou mais de trabalhar. Atualmente ela trabalha na produção de Piranha 3-D, com previsão de lançamento para este ano.
Quem não lembra de Martin Kove (64 anos), o professor de karatê John Kreese? Kove iniciou a carreira em 1971 e continua na ativa. Seu último trabalho foi em Middle Men, no ano passado.
William Zabka (45 anos) fez o papel de Johnny Lawrence, o rival de Daniel Larusso. Depois da participação no primeiro filme, ele trabalhou em outros títulos menos conhecidos. Atualmente, ele filma “Cross”.
Pat Morita chegou a ser indicado ao Oscar de melhor ator coadjuvante, justamente interpretando o Sr. Miyagi, mestre de karatê que ensinou todos os truques ao Daniel Larusso. O ator morreu em 2005, aos 73 anos.
